I’ve mentioned this before. But compared to a bank, if SteamWorks is using the same technology, a hacker ring is going to target a bank and not a small locally-owned business when it requires the same amount of effort to hack into. Simply because the payoff is bigger.
If you were going to go to the trouble of robbing a bank and you had a team and all the proper equipment, are you going to rob a small credit union in a village? Or are you going to rob a bigger bank in a city where you know the payoff is going to be exponentially larger? Same effort required either way.
For what it’s worth, the database technology we’re using, we’ve been putting clients on for 12 years. And there are hundreds of other putting clients on the same technology stack. And the company that owns it has an entire team that constantly upgrades it and keeps it encrypted. Your information is actually safer on this database that having hard records in a filing cabinet. Nobody ever has been hacked on this software. Not one time. It’s ultra secure AND it’s primarily small businesses who would not be the target of a large hacker ring.
