Greetings fellow freaks!
I am a huge fan of SteamWorks but it's going to come to a point soon where I'm going to be going elsewhere if changes aren't made.
Jim, let's get real for a second. You're stuck in the 80's. You have a great 'concept' for your business I fully support but there are some MAJOR safety flaws that you need to address or you're going to go belly up and I mean that in the most kind, sincere way.
Jim, women do not feel safe at SteamWorks. FULL STOP. You really need to address thoroughly address this problem. I bring women out to the club and I assure them I will personally supervise their experience so they can feel safe. This is a gigantic red stop sign you need to stop ignoring and DEAL WITH IT.
You had a good thing going with a female host. Now the position is gone because you're not making enough income. Why aren't you making enough income? Because the position is gone.
In this day and age, 2020's (the 80's were 40 years ago) women expect to be treated with dignity and respect. Your club does not value these attributes in the guests it attracts. Your club attracts late night bar crawlers and dudes that can't get laid no matter how hard they try. Do you know what attracts men to a sex club? WOMEN.
So by this logic, it's time for you to really think about the future of SteamWorks and how you ALLOW women to be treated in YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. That's right Jim, the onus is actually on you.
I've got some suggestions and some great ideas to help you. First things first, if you want WOMEN to feel SAFE you need to give them a SPACE to feel SAFE in. Do you know why women hide in their rooms all night mostly? You guessed it, they don't feel safe exposed. How do we fix that? Simple...you need to demolish the captain's room and the office space and turn the entire upstairs lounge into an ACTUAL lounge. An area where WOMEN can hang out in GROUPS OF PEOPLE, supervised by staff. Where they can mingle SAFELY with men. Where women can make an assessment of a guys nature in a PUBLIC area and choose to play or not play.
No one I know likes the downstairs lounge, I'm sorry Jim but it's the truth. It's too humid, it's too hot and it's kinda weird to just go down there and sit and watch TV. There's nothing "to do" in the lounge. There's also nothing "to do" in the lounge upstairs. If you removed the captain's room you will solve another problem immediately, and that is WOMEN BEING FOLLOWED BY MEN. Your corridors were a good idea a long time ago, but now they scare women. I've RAN from men in those hallways. You couldn't possibly understand because you're not a woman, but let me tell you there are some men that come to Steamworks to HUNT for women and they don't give up. For me, it's not an issue because I'll start hollering and kick their asses right out. But I've been around a few years. What about the NEW WOMEN coming to the club? How do you think they feel when they get hunted? They feel strongly enough that they'll never come back, that's what they feel.
And you wonder why last night it was dead as a door nail until about 9-10pm when the people from the bars started to show up. Then us women have to deal with then assessing the drunk guys safety risk if we play with them.
Jim, if you want to keep your business alive it's time to start listening to the WOMEN who like to come to Steamworks. Start having basic standards of respect and decency to the men who frequent the place. Get a membership program going already for crying out loud. Take safety seriously and you will see a turn around. But if you keep ignoring it a few things are going to happen...you'll continue to lose new business and you're going to lose the support of some of your loyal guests like myself. I don't want to have to start explaining to people why they shouldn't go to Steamworks, I'd much rather help your business profit. But if you're not going to be the change, I will be and I'll help keep women safe by actively steering them away from your place of business.
I'd love to hear other guests feedback on my perspective and ideas for Jim. Please feel free to add your own. Change needs to happen and it needs to happen right now.
