Yes, I understand that.  It's too bad Edmonton isn't big enough to support two separate establishments: a gay bath house and a hetero sex club.  Oh well.

It's so weird.  Edmonton used to support 3 gay bath houses with a much smaller population:  Georgia Baths, Down Under, and Steamworks.

I guess the gay population being integrated into mainstream culture plus the prevalence of social media helped destroy that construct.

There is no private messaging on the website.

The thread title is "Flipside of the ID concern". 

Somehow the thread got completely turned sideways.

Well I am going to add my 2 cents here as well. 

I absolutely agree that there should be an ID system in place. The problem people will be weeded out  and a proper ban list can be made.

For example, Tonight when I was there, a pushy guy did not want to accept my NO. He and a friend he came with followed a different girl. She was uncomfortable and fairly new, she asked me what to do. I told them to leave her alone. A short time after, she asked me to help her find her room, so I walked her to her room. Again, he followed. I told him not interested. Once in her room, I went back to mine. He followed me again. When I told him no he started arguing with me. After 4 or 5 more times of telling him no a staff member happened to walk past. I told him what happened and he was booted immediately. 

Now, because the staff had his ID on hand, they can add him to the ban list and he wont be able to come back. 

Most people that come to SW are men. Most of them do not deal with the pushy men that do not want to listen to a woman when she says not interested. Im a bigger girl, and I am more than capable of asserting dominance should I need to, but the other girl tonight was 5 foot tall, and 100lbs soaking wet, and too scared to speak up to a different man

Privacy is important, but safety should always be top priority and this helps with that. 

And really, you need to show an ID to get a hotel room, buy alcohol or go to an R rated movie, so why not to get access to a place like SW.

Also, huge shout out to the staff on shift for how they dealt with the situation tonight, and for checking in on myself and the other girl after the whole situation was dealt with. 

I’ve never had an issue showing my ID, that was never my concern. Leaving my identification at any establishment is different. I totally agree that showing your should be made mandatory and I’m so very glad they are charging things and I’m ecstatic that I’m the end staff was able to help remove the individual from the premises and hopefully it’s not a three strike program to ban someone. Even as a male being groped without consent disgusts me. Especially after I’ve said no 3-4 times and have actually slapped someone’s had away. I’m glad changes are being, 100% agreed it needs to be done to protect the current customers and attract new ones. 

@tallcanadian I agree. Showing yes, writing my name down yes, but keeping my ID, not sure. I don’t feel comfortable doing that to be honest.
